as a small business I felt hostage to Sitelock for cleaning our website that had been hacked (an Asian *** site!!)- In less than 2 weeks we realized that the 'cleanse' did not really work- our site was too damaged. I had to move the hosting and redo our site.

My tech guy- who is VERY well trained, told me that there was no way I should be paying almost $100 a month for this service- that it is a rip off!

I tried cancelling within 30 days- was told I HAD to keep it for a year- as there was a 6 month penalty. At the time,I had agreed to keep it for 6 months- but apparently they didn't agree on their end-- they have no notes- but mine do not count!!(I say almost because, evidently, the representatives don't know how to estimate- I cancelled and was told it was $594- when I said "$600"- she responded 'no -it's 594!)-- DO NOT BUY THIS- there are much better and less expensive and more supportive businesses than this one.

Your website likely wasn't too damaged to be fixed after being hacked and wouldn't have needed to be re-done. Instead, based on our experience, SiteLock probably didn't properly clean up the website, leading to whatever issue you were experience post cleanup. From what we have seen their actions often break websites and they don't do basic parts of a proper cleanup, which often leads to additional problems right away or later on.

For others in the same situation, before you take the extreme step of re-doing a website, you should get in touch with other web security companies to see if they can undo the damage and get the website properly cleaned.
